Stoga XC Adds Yoga into their practices

Published July 21, 2024

The Stoga Cross Country team will start incorporating yoga into their end of practice routine two days a week to work on stretching and strengthening to help prevent injuries.  Yoga strengthens muscles used for running, like the quads, hamstrings, glutes, and hip flexors. It also engages minor muscles and core muscles that provide stability. Yoga can help runners increase their range of motion and flexibility, which can improve their posture and movement. Stiffness can lead to injury. Yoga can help runners improve their body balance by working different muscles and joints than running. This can lead to better form and fewer injuries. Yoga can help runners increase mobility in their hips, knees, and ankles, which can help their joints move more freely while running. Yoga can help runners breathe more efficiently and can help runners with recovery.

Stoga XC takes epic field trip to Hershey

Published July 10, 2024

The Stoga Cross Country team took an epic team buiding field trip to Hersheypark on July 8th.  The team had a car wash on June 8th to raise the funds to pay for the trip.  They enjoyed the rides with little to no lines.  In fact, some runners said that this was the most rides they had ever rode in one day and they still felt nauseous two days later.  The team also celebrated Coach Hawkins 30th birthday and gifted him with a "Success With Honor" Penn State t-shirt.
