Hello XC Parents!

I just wanted to say thank you to all of our parents and runners for a great season.  It was so nice to coach your children and get the opportunity to meet all of you.

A few wrap up items:

Central League Championship Results:

The boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Central League Championship race Friday afternoon at Rose Tree Park.  The boys were up against 3 teams ranked in the top 20 in the state.   Led by Nathan Kluge, Parker Warkentine, and Shane Walsh, the boys blazed their way to a third place finish.  The girls, led by Alexia Tubbs who finished in fourth place, cruised to an easy victory as a team.  This leaves the girls team undefeated for the entire season.  Both teams look to compete next at the District 1 Championship at Lehigh University in two weeks.

A complete list of results can be found here:

There was an email that went out last week that there will be a bus to Wilson starting this Tuesday for students who do not have transportation on a given day.  The bus will first drive any tennis students to the Upper Main Line Y and then come back and drive XC students to Wilson.  There will not be a bus back to school after practice so parents should continue to pick students up there at the conclusion of practice.

Uniforms and Spirit Wear

Athletes are responsible for purchasing uniforms for XC. Since this is mandatory, we chose an affordable option and we are hoping students can use it for their entire high school XC career.  We ask athletes to purchase a singlet and they can use any pair of black shorts they own.  We are doing things a little bit differently this year.  Uniforms can be purchased directly through our website.  There is some lead time required for uniforms, so I would suggest you order them as soon as possible.  If you are unable to afford the uniform, please contact me privately so we can arrange financial help for you.

Spirit wear can be purchased through our website as well.  There are a lot of great options.  Some options come in both Cross Country and track so please be sure to select the correct one.

Season Dues

In order to continue to create a strong & supportive program for your Runner from the Conestoga Cross Country Booster Club we each Runner to pay their dues.  The 2022 Cross Country dues will be the following for the 2023 Season and will help fund our Cross Country Booster Club to make this season successful.

• All Runners: $75 per player
• Families with 2 or More Runners: $125 per family

Your support through these dues and fundraising allows the Booster Club to provide a GREAT EXPERIENCE for a LARGE roster of Runners - as Cross Country is one of the few sports that does NOT cut players/runners from the team.

Dues can be paid via Paypal here.

Parent Social:

We have scheduled a Parent Social for September 24th at 4 pm at the Warkentine house.  There will be a Paperless Post invitation coming out TODAY.  Please RSVP ASAP so we can plan appropriately.  Last day to RSVP will be September 10th.

Hi Everyone!

Here are the follow up notes from the Parent Meeting along with some housekeeping items:

Housekeeping Items

Practice Tomorrow:

Practice will be at 3:30 starting tomorrow and for the rest of the season.  Practice will still be at the WFP pavilion.

Friday’s Meet:

The bus Departure Time for Friday has been updated!  Please have your students at Conestoga for the bus at 2:30pm.  Make sure they bring plenty of water.  If they do not yet have a uniform, please make sure that they wear a maroon t-shirt and black shorts.

Parent Social:

We have scheduled a Parent Social for September 24th at 4 pm at the Warkentine house.  There will be separate information sent on this, but please mark your calendars.

Parent’s Meeting Highlights

I have added the document that was handed out at the meeting to this email.  It contains some notes and the updated schedule.

Practices:

The school does NOT provide buses from school to practices at Wilson.  Parent’s and upper classman typically drive students for this.  The captains should have started a group chat for anyone who needs to catch a ride from upper classman.  The rides will be coordinated through those chats.  We practice in all weather (rain, snow, heat).  Unless it is lightning, we will be running!

Meets

The school will provide buses for all meets.  Invitationals or Saturday meets are optional.  All weekday or league meets are mandatory.

Shoes:

Please ensure that your child has the proper shoes for running.  They need to be well cushioned and not worn out.  This is an investment, but an important one!  Road Runner Sports in KOP Town Center can evaluate your student and help choose the right shoe for them.

Injuries:

Ice and foam rolling are the two good options for injuries.  You can purchase both on Amazon.  Amazon has ice sleeves that Velcro around the leg and work really well for most injuries.  Common running injuries can be shin splits, patella tendinitis, and planta fasciitis.

Pasta Dinners:

We will have two pasta dinner this year before two of our league meets.  This is a Cross Country tradition that the kids really enjoy.  All of the food and set up/break down are done by parents.  There will be a sign-up genius sent out a week in advance asking for volunteers.  We need everyone’s help with these!

Senior Night:

Senior Night will be on 10/12 at the Stage at Wilson Farm Park.  We hope that all parents can attend, but particularly Senior Parents as they will escort the students for the event.  We will serve pizza and Coach Hawkins will emcee.

End of Season Banquet:

The banquet will be held on 11/15 at Aronimink Golf Club.  All are welcome, there will be a cost to attend.  More information will come out on this as we get closer.

Uniforms:

Athletes are responsible for purchasing uniforms for XC. Since this is mandatory, we chose an affordable option and we are hoping students can use it for their entire high school XC career.  We ask athletes to purchase a singlet and they can use any pair of black shorts they own.  We are doing things a little bit differently this year.  Uniforms can be purchased directly through our website.  There is some lead time required for uniforms, so I would suggest you order them as soon as possible.  If you are unable to afford the uniform, please contact me privately so we can arrange financial help for you.

I think this is primarily what we went over.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Thanks!

Stacy
